Biography[]
Eddie Rivera was born in 1955 in Miami, Florida to a family that had come to the United States from Puerto Rico. Rivera became a detective with the Metro-Dade police department, and he worked undercover alongside Sonny Crockett on many occasions. In September 1984, Rivera and Crockett headed to bust small-time drug dealer "Corky", arranging for him to head to a boat in the Atlantic Ocean, where they would arrest him. However, Corky changed destination and drove them to a parking garage, where he showed them to his car. Rivera and Corky opened the trunk to view the drugs, but a C4 plastic explosive rigged in the bottom of the car exploded and killed the two of them. Crockett would work with Rico Tubbs in the years following Rivera's death.
