
Ecumenical Patriarch Nektarios (335-398) was the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople from 381 to 398, succeeding Ecumenical Patriarch Gregorios and preceding Ecumenical Patriarch Ioannes I.
Biography[]
Nektarios was from Tarsus in Cilicia, and he was widely known for his admirable personality. In 381 Emperor Theodosius I deposed Ecumenical Patriarch Gregorios and installed Nektarios as the new Archbishop of Byzantium, and he reigned until his death in 398.
