Ebrauc was a sub-Roman Britonnic kingdom which existed from 410 to the 7th century AD. It developed as a minor kingdom based on the old territory of the Brigantes, with Ebrauc (York) serving as its capital. Angles settled in the region during the early 5th century, leading to conflict between the Romano-British of Ebrauc and the Germanic invaders, and Ebrauc's coastal regions were gradually conquered from 547 (the foundation of Bernicia) to 559 (the foundation of Deira). In 580, the last Ebraucian king, Gwrgant Gwron, was forced to flee from York as the Angles captured the city, ending Christian rule over the city and marking the fall of Ebrauc.
