Ebenezer Gerald Leaper (2 May 1821 – 14 October 1890) was a Colonel of Volunteers of the US Army during the American Civil War.

Biography[]

Ebenezer Gerald Leaper was born in Rochester, Minnesota, United States on 2 May 1821 to a Yankee family, and Leaper worked as a forester before the start of the American Civil War. Leaper gathered several Minnesotan men to form a volunteer infantry regiment of the US Army at the start of the war in 1861, and his regiment served in the Army of the Cumberland during the war. In 1864, his regiment distinguished itself at the Battle of Nashville, and Leaper and his men retired to peaceful lives after the war's end in 1865. Leaper died in 1890.
