The Eastman Gang was a predominately Jewish-American street gang made mostly up of Eastern European Jews in New York City that existed from the 1890s to the 1910s. They were considered to be a major powerful Jewish crime syndicate that were best-known for their supremacy over Manhattan in the early 20th-century that dominated parts of the criminal underworld. The gang was also once referred to as the "Allen Street Cadets" ("cadet" being Bowery slang for a pimp) however as the gang's fame grew, they came to be known simply as the "Eastman Gang" led by Monk Eastman who held a bitter rivalry with Paul Kelly and his Irish/Italian gang, the Five Points Gang, for power during the 20th century. Despite the warring nature between the two factions, both supported the New York Democratic Party's political machine, Tammany Hall being used as strong-armed gangs for the politicians. The gang was broken up in the later months of 1912 after several internal struggles within its hierarchy, when Jack Zelig was killed by many other factions of the gang.
