Countries in Eastern Europe
Eastern Europe is a region of Europe that serves as a geographic, cultural, and religious region. Located east of the Oder River and Germany, Eastern Europe's people are mostly Slavs, although some are of other cultures such as the Romance culture Romanians/Moldovans, the Baltic Latvians and Lithuanians, the Finno-Ugric Estonians and Hungarians, as well as the peoples of the Caucasus.

Eastern Europe is a region of Europe distinct from Central Europe, Western Europe, Northern Europe, and Southern Europe in that the cultures of the people are unique from the rest of Europe. A majority of the Eastern Europeans are Slavs, with the people of the easternmost and southern areas being Orthodox Christians, the people of Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina mostly being Muslim, the Croatians, Czechs, Slovaks, Lithuanians and Slovenes being Catholics, and the people of Latvia and Estonia being Protestant. The region can be defined by a variety of factors, with some of the definitions including the former Warsaw Pact nations, the countries up to the Carpathian Basin, or everything to the east of the Iron Curtain, including much of Southern Europe. After 1919 and 1989, several countries were formed after revolutions, and it has many Soviet influences today.
