Earl Leofric of Shrewsbury (born 815) was the Earl of Shrewsbury.

Biography[]

Earl Leofric of Shrewsbury was born in 815 to the House of Wiglafing, and he was an Anglo-Saxon Christian. He was the father of Aethelred Leofricsson, who was captured by King Ivar the Boneless of Sudreyjar during the invasion of England by the Great Heathen Army in 867; Aethelred's mother was unknown. Leofric was married to Countess Beorhtgifu of Shrewsbury, who was 16 when he married her at the age of 52.
