Earl Edmund of Kent (1 August 1301 – 19 March 1330) was a noble of the Kingdom of England.
Biography[]
Edmund was born on 1 August 1301 to King Edward I of England and Margaret of France, and he was from the Catholic English House of Plantagenet. He was supposed to be granted a large amount of land by his father, but when his father died in 1307, his brother became Edward II of England and favored Piers Gaveston to his blood relatives, passing over Edmund. Edmund remained loyal, and in 1321 he was given the Earldom of Kent. However, in 1326 he joined the rebellion of his brother's wife Isabella of France and her lover Roger Mortimer, and he helped to overthrow Edward. Edmund did not get along with the new administration, however, and he was executed in 1330 for planning a new rebellion.
