Eardulf of Lindisfarne (829-900) was Bishop of Lindisfarne from 854 to 900, succeeding Eanbert and preceding Cutheard.
Biography[]
Eardulf was born in 829 to the Anglo-Saxon Huntingdon family, and he became Bishop of Lindisfarne in 854. He and Abbot Eadred Lulisc moved the body of Saint Cuthbert of Lindisfarne to Chester-le-Street to protect it from Viking invasions; they had intended to take the remains to Ireland, but a storm foiled their plans. He died in 900.
