Ealdwulf of East Anglia (635-713) was King of East Anglia from 664 to 713, succeeding Aethelwold and preceding Aelfwald.
Biography[]
Ealdwulf was born in 635, the nephew of Kings Anna of East Anglia, Aethelhere of East Anglia, and Aethelwold of East Anglia. He succeeded his uncle Aethelwold as King of East Anglia in 664, and his kingdom was ravaged by the plague during the first five years of his reign. East Anglia survived this outbreak and reached an age of prosperity and stability during Ealdwulf's long reign, partially due to the growth of Ipswich as a trading center. Ealdwulf assisted Kent against Wessex, and he died in 713.
