Aelle of Sussex (born 859) was the West Saxon client ruler of Sussex during the late 9th century AD.

Aelle was born in Sussex, England in 859 to an Anglo-Saxon Christian noble family. During the late 9th century, he rose to be the West Saxon client ruler of Sussex, and he proved to be a happy and loyal subject; he had a positive opinion of King Alfred the Great and contributed a sizable army to his campaigns against Grantebru and East Engle in the 890s AD; Aelle personally led the South Saxon army to capture London and Tilbury.
