
Duong Van Mai Elliott was a Vietnamese-American author.
Biography[]
Duong Van Mai was born in Saigon, Vietnam, and she graduated from Georgetown University before returning to Saigon to work for the Rand Corporation in interviewing Viet Cong prisoners and defectors during the Vietnam War. She married an American, David Elliott, in Saigon, having met him while at Georgetown. After the war ended, she and her husband moved to the United States, and she had a long career in corporate banking before writing her life's story, The Sacred Willow, and publishing it in April 1999. In 2000, she was a member of a Vietnamese-American delegation which accompanied President Bill Clinton on a state visit to Vietnam.
