The Duchesse de Fremiet was a French noblewoman at the time of the French Revolution. She lived in Paris with her son Jean de Fremiet, and her son was lynched from a lamppost at the Place de Greve by a mob of revolutionaries for being among the nobility. She retrieved a necklace from her son's corpse as a reminder, and Arno Dorian protected her from angry revolutionaries as she made her way to the church so that the necklace could be buried by the priests for her son's makeshift funeral.
