Dubgall mac Somairle (1149-1200) was a son of Somerled and an Earl of Argyll.
Biography[]
Dubgall mac Somairle was born in 1149, a son of Somerled and the brother of Aonghus mac Somhairle and Ragnall mac Somairle. In 1156, he was proposed as a candidate for the kingship of Sudreyjar by his uncle Gudrodr Olafsson, but, later that year, Somerled defeated Gudrodr and seized the kingdom for himself. In 1164, Somerled was slain in battle with the Scots, and Ragnall partitioned the kingdom between the brothers. Dubgall became Earl of Argyll and founded the Roman Catholic Diocese of Argyll. He died in 1175.
