Flag of Dorset

Dorset is a county in southwest England on the English Channel coast. Dorset borders Devon to the west, Somerset to the northwest, Wiltshire to the northeast, and Hampshire to the east. Dorchester is the county town of Dorset. Dorset was created as a shire by the Saxons during the 7th century, and it played a major role in English history, as it was the home of the trade union movement in England and also home to the harbors of Portland and Poole, which were extensively used for Operation Ovelrord in 1944 during World War II. In 2016, Dorset had a population of 771,900 people.
