Biography[]

Donnchad mac Briain was born in 1000, the son of King Brian Boru of Munster. He succeeded his father as king after his death at the Battle of Clontarf, and Donnchad would fight against King Diarmaid mac Mael na mBo of Leinster and King Aed in Gai Bernaig for control of Ireland. His own nephew, Turlough O'Brien, was behind the attacks on his realm. In 1063, Donnchad was deposed, and he died on the pilgrimage to Rome in 1065.
