Donald II of Scotland (860-900), also known as Domnall mac Causantin, was King of Scotland from 889 to 900, succeeding Giric and preceding Constantine II.
Biography[]
Domnall mac Causantin was born in 860, the son of King Constantine I of Scotland and the nephew of King Aed mac Cinaeda of Scotland. He became King on the death and deposition of Giric in 889, reigning for 11 years. The Norsemen wasted Pictland at this time, but Donald defeated the Vikings at Innisibsolian. In 900, Donald met King Harald Fairhair of Norway in battle at Dunnottar, where he was slain in battle.
