Domingo Francisco Sanchez

Domingo Francisco Sanchez (20 March 1795-1 March 1870) was Vice President of Paraguay from 25 May 1865 to 1 March 1870, succeeding Francisco Solano Lopez and preceding Sotero Cayo Miltos.

Biography[]

Domingo Francisco Sanchez was born in Asuncion, Paraguay in 1795, the son of a Spanish immigrant. He became a civil servant at a young age and served President Carlos Antonio Lopez and his son Francisco Solano Lopez as a friend and advisor. He served as Foreign Minister from 1860 to 1862 and as Francisco's Vice President from 1865 to 1870. He remained loyal to the President until the end, dying in combat alongside Lopez and Secretary of State Luis Caminos at the Battle of Cerro Cora in 1870.
