Dmitry Savelyevich Shuvayev (24 October 1854-19 December 1937) was Minister of War of the Russian Empire from 15 March 1916 to 3 January 1917, succeeding Alexei Polivanov and preceding Mikhail Belyaev.
Biography[]
Dmitry Savelyevich Shuvayev was born in Ufa, Ufa Governorate, Russian Empire in 1854, and he joined the Imperial Russian Army in 1872 and served in Central Asia from 1873 to 1875, assumed divisional command in 1905, and corps command in 1907. He went on to serve as Chief Field Quartermaster from December 1915 to March 1916 during World War I, after which he served as War Minister from 1916 to 1917. He was appointed to the State Council in 1917, and he served as a Red Army commander from 1918 to 1926, when he retired. He was executed by the NKVD in 1937 during the Great Purge.
