
Dmitry Faustinov (12 September 1783-21 January 1813) was a colonel of the Russian Army who died in the Battle of Swiecie in 1813.
Biography[]
Dmitry Faustinov was born in Murmansk, Russia, in 1783. In 1800 he joined the Russian army at the age of 17 and fought in the French Revolutionary Wars in northern Italy under General Alexander Suvorov. Faustinov was promoted to Colonel during the course of the ensuing Napoleonic Wars, fighting in the War of the Third Coalition, War of the Fourth Coalition, Patriotic War, and War of the Sixth Coalition against the armies of Emperor Napoleon.

Faustinov commanded a regiment of Opelchenie militia during the campaign in Russia against the French in 1812. During the Russian and Prussian counteroffensive of 1813 he served under Prince Barclay de Tolly in the Army of Silesia.
In the Battle of Swiecie on 21 January 1813, Faustinov led his regiment in a charge against French troops. He was shot in the left rib during the charge, and collapsed, mortally wounded. Without any medical attention during the heat of battle, Faustinov succumbed to his bleeding wounds and died.
