Dilie

Dilie (1033-) was the Spymaster of the Liao dynasty under Emperor Daozong of Liao.

Biography[]

Dilie was born in 1033 to a lowborn family of Buddhist Khitans. Dilie was later appointed spymaster of the Liao dynasty by Emperor Daozong of Liao due to his high intrigue skills, and he uncovered several plots that could threaten Daozong. On 21 December 1069 Dilie overheard his lord and his stablemaster arguing, so he settled the matter in a fair way: the emperor got the horse and the stablemaster got the coin. He was made Master of the Royal Elephants as an honorary title as a reward for his efforts.
