Diego Mendez (1934-1984) was a Bolivian drug lord who, along with his brother Armando Mendez, led the powerful Mendez Cartel. The brothers exported cocaine to the United States through Miami, but both of them were killed by their rival Victor Vance in 1984.
Biography[]
Diego Mendez was born in Bolivia, in 1934 the brother of Armando Mendez. They set up a multi-million dollar cocaine trafficking industry which took advantage of Bolivia's high coca yields and exported the popular drug into the United States through Miami with the help of Jerry Martinez. In 1984, Martinez's rivals Victor Vance and Lance Vance stole a shipment of the Mendez Brothers' cocaine, mistaking it for Martinez's cocaine, and the Mendez brothers confronted the Vances about the stolen shipment. The Vances convinced the Mendez brothers that they were not responsible for the shipment's theft, and the Mendez brothers entered into a brief partnership with the Vances which ended when the Mendez brothers discovered the Vances' duplicity. The Mendez brothers kidnapped Victor's girlfriend Louise and his brother Victor, and Victor managed to kill Diego's brother, Armando, but Diego fled. He was later killed when Vance stormed his building and killed him and Jerry Martinez.
