
Diego Manuel Chamorro (9 August 1861-12 October 1923) was President of Nicaragua from 1 January 1921 to 12 October 1923, succeeding Emiliano Chamorro and preceding Rosendo Chamorro.
Biography[]
Diego Manuel Chamorro was born in Nandaime, Nicaragua in 1861, the son of President Pedro Joaquin Chamorro Alfaro. He was elected President in 1921, following his nephew Emiliano Chamorro in that office. During his presidency, he crushed an invasion by rebels from Honduras and negotiated an agreement with the presidents of Honduras and El Salvador to prevent further such invasions from occurring. He died in office in 1923, and he was succeeded by Rosendo Chamorro, his Interior Minister.
