Die Linke ("The Left") is a democratic socialist political party in Germany that was founded on 16 June 2007. The party merged the leftist factions of Germany into a democratic socialist party, and Die Linke was considered to be a far-left party, the most far-left of the four major German parties; in Bavaria, its party members are under surveillance due to suspected extremism. In 2016, the party held 64/631 Bundestag seats, 155/1,857 State Parliament seats, 7/96 European Parliament seats,and 1/16 State Prime Ministerial seats.
