Dick Broadwell

Richard L. "Dick" Broadwell (1862-5 October 1892) was an American outlaw of the Wild West and a member of the Dalton Gang. He was killed in the Coffeyville bank robbery.

Biography[]

Richard L. Broadwell was born in Illinois in 1862, and he was raised in Meade, Kansas and then in Hutchinson. He operated his family's cattle ranch before joining the Dalton Gang, whose hideout was located at Meade. Broadwell sought to make enough money for "candy" - his term for women - and he took part in the Dalton brothers' final heist, the Coffeyville bank robbery, in 1892. In the ensuing getaway shootout, Broadwell and all of the gang members were gunned down, with only Emmett Dalton surviving his gunshot wounds.
