The Detroit Partnership is an American Mafia crime family based in Detroit, Michigan. Founded in 1908 by Sicilian Black Hand extortionists, the Detroit Partnership's first official "sitting" boss was William Tocco, who became the don in 1936. In 1937, his brother-in-law Joseph Zerilli took over the family when he was imprisoned, and Zerilli led the family into the 1970s, giving it its alternative name of the Zerilli crime family. Tocco's son Jack Tocco led the family from 1977 to 1996, when the family was indicted for racketeering and other crimes. The family lost much of its strength, and it had 50 made men and over 400 associates in 2016. The party was once known for its connections to the Teamsters, led by Detroit's own Jimmy Hoffa, and the family had him murdered in 1975 after he threatened to go to the press about his relationship with the Mafia.
