Desmond Blythe

Desmond Blythe (1853-) was an American legwear manufacturer from New Orleans during the late 19th century.

Biography[]

Desmond Blythe was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1853, and he made a fortune in the hosiery business, allowing for him to become a compulsive gambler and the owner of an expensive Swiss Reutlinger pocket watch. In 1899, he attended a poker tournament on The Grand Korrigan riverboat on the Mississippi River, but he was cheated by the outlaw Arthur Morgan with the help of Leopold Strauss, and he lost his pocket watch to Morgan. This led to the pit boss Frederick Schofield inviting Morgan to come upstairs to retrieve the valuable watch from a safe, but this resulted in the Grand Korrigan robbery, in which Morgan and Javier Escuella robbed the entire safe and escaped from the riverboat after a shootout with the security guards. Blythe managed to escape unharmed.
