Denver Sylvester Dickerson (24 January 1872-28 November 1925) was the Silver-Democratic Governor of Nevada from 22 May 1908 to 2 January 1911, succeeding John Sparks and preceding Tasker Oddie.
Biography[]
Denver Sylvester Dickerson was born in Millville, California, and he worked as a miner in Idaho, Montana, and Nevada before serving in the US Army du ring the Spanish-American War and settling in Cherry Creek, White Pine County, Nevada. He served as county recorder in 1902, became owner of the White Pine News, served as Lieutenant Governor from 1907 to 1908 and Governor from 1908 to 1911 after Governor John Sparks' death, and went on to serve as the state prison warden from 1913 to 1916 and 1923 to 1925, and Superintendent of Federal Prisons from 1920 to 1921. Dickerson died in Carson City in 1925.
