In 1849, Denmark became a constitutional monarchy, and it underwent social reforms in the 20th century, transforming Denmark into a welfare state. By the 21st century, Denmark was rated as the happiest country on Earth, as the nation was neutral and had a strong economy. In 2016, Denmark had a population of 5,707,251 people.
