Denis Viktorovich Glebov (May 5, 1984 - March 6, 2022) was the Deputy Commander of the 11th Separate Air Assault Brigade, a key formation within the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV), that saw engagement during the War in Ukraine.
He was killed in action near the city of Chuhuiv on March 6, 2022.
Biography[]
He was born on May 5, 1984, and graduated from the prestigious Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School in 2006, one of the main institutions for elite paratrooper leadership training in Russia.
By 2022, Glebov had risen to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, serving in military unit 32364, the 11th Separate Air Assault Brigade, headquartered in Ulan-Ude. The unit had gained a reputation within the VDV as a well-equipped rapid deployment force, used in both peacetime maneuvers and high-intensity combat operations.
Glebov was deployed during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, taking part in early combat operations in the northeast. He was killed in action near the city of Chuhuiv (Kharkiv Oblast) on March 6, 2022, during Russia’s failed attempts to secure the area in the opening phase of the war. Ukrainian sources reported that Glebov was actively involved in organizing and leading the assault, placing him at the frontline of the offensive.
