Deng Zhi (?-251) was a vassal of Liu Bei who formerly served Liu Zhang. After Liu Zhang surrendered, he joined Liu Bei. After Liu Bei's death, he became an envoy for alliance to Wu and sought an alliance with Sun Quan. Though Sun Quan tried to frighten him with a huge axe, he eventually convinced him to restore relations. He was highly praised by Sun Quan. During the First Northern Campaign, he led te vanguard with Zhao Yun. He also participated in later campaigns.
