The Democratic Party of the Left was a democratic socialist and social democratic political party in Italy, founded in 1991 as the post-communist version of the Italian Communist Party. The party advocated moderate left-wing views, and it held 172/630 Parliament seats and 102/315 Senate seats at its height in 1996. The party merged into the Democrats of the Left party in 1998.
