The Democratic Party of Guinea - African Democratic Rally (PDG-RDA) is a socialist political party in Guinea that was founded in June 1947 by Ahmed Sekou Toure as a branch of the African Democratic Party (RDA). In 1958, the party severed its links with the RDA due to its support for a closer union with France, and Sekou Toure became the first President of Guinea. In 1960, the PDG-RDA became the sole legal party in the country, and the party remained in power until the fall of the Toure regime in 1984. After the regime's demise, the PDG dissolved, but it was revived in 1992, becoming a minor party.
