The Democratic Labor Party (PDT) is a social democratic political party in Brazil which was founded on 17 June 1979. The PDT was founded by Leonel Brizola as an attempt to reorganize the Brazilian left during the end of the Brazilian military government; many of its members, including Brizola, were former Brazilian Labor Party members. The PDT was the major left-wing party in the country until the rise of the Workers' Party of Brazil, and it is now a minor party in the country.
