Democratic Kampuchea was the name given to the Khmer Rouge-controlled regime of Cambodia that ruled from from 17 April 1975 to 7 January 1979 after the Cambodian Civil War and before the Cambodian-Vietnamese War. Founded after the Fall of Phnom Penh to Pol Pot's communist forces, Democratic Kampuchea was a totalitarian communist state that murdered the intelligentsia and political opposition of Cambodia to consolidate Pol Pot's leadership. The "Cambodian Genocide" and the abolition of currency led to the Cambodian people being poor and poorly-educated, reducing Cambodia to a Third World country. The country was invaded in 1979 by Vietnam and replaced by the People's Republic of Kampuchea, a group of Khmer Rouge dissidents.
The reason behind the killing of cambodians[]
The Cambodian genocide is a series of massacre done by the Khmer rouge , they targeted the one that is highly educated because this might cause threat to their communist regime. People with glasses are considered to be a smart people so the Khmer rouge soilders will tell them they will be moving them to new house , but instead get them blindfold them and them use farming tool to brutally kill them like shovel and sickle. They will then be put into mass grave where they will left to die if they survive the torture. Khmer rouge soilders use farming tools not bullet because bullet is very expensive to them. A lot of people are killed during the time , because if one person report that the other is against Angkar (The Khmer rouge government) that person would be killed immediately.
