The Democratic Action Party (DAP) is a social democratic political party in Malaysia that was founded on 11 October 1965 and legalized on 18 March 1966. The DAP's goals were to establish a peaceful and diverse Malaysia that could unite the various religions and cultures into a race grounded on morals such as democracy, the rule of law, the equal distribution of wealth, and anti-corruption. The DAP drew its support from secular and liberal religious voters from big cities, coastal regions, the professional middle class, and the working class, and it held 2/70 Dewan Negara seats, 35/222 Dewan Rakyat seats, and 96/587 Dewan Undangan Negeri seats in 2017.
