Dedebaba Bektash of Bektashi Order (26 January 1074-8 November 1100) was the dedebaba of the Bektash Order from 1099 to 1100, preceding Dedebaba Mohammed of Bektashi Order.
Biography[]
Bektash was born on 26 January 1074 to the House of Jorjani, a dynasty of Sunni Muslim Persians. He created the Bektashi Order in 1099, and that year he took part in al-Mustazhir's jihad against the city of Jerusalem. On 26 August 1100 he was captured by the Kingdom of Jerusalem at the battle of Banyas and was imprisoned by Godfrey de Bouillon, and on 8 November 1100 he was executed by King Godfrey in Jerusalem. Bektash was the leader of a militant Sunni group and was devoted to fighting Christians, so Godfrey decided to execute him rather than release him.
