Declan Newman

Declan Newman (born 1978) was a Sergeant-Major of the US Marine Corps.

Biography[]

Declan Newman was born in 1978 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, and he joined the US Marine Corps in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks by al-Qaeda. Newman served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and he served in several tours of duty. In 2007, he was the commander of a small force of Marines that took part in Operation Compound in Karam, where he was given the Distinguished Service Medal (DSM) for valiantly defending the ISAF base against the Taliban, who eventually took over the base. He was discharged in 2011 after ten years of service, and he becamea construction company owner in Pontotoc.
