Decima Flottiglia Mezzi d'Asalto (10th Assault Vehicle Flotilla), also known as La Decima or MAS, was an Italian commando frogman unit of the Regia Marina navy, active from March 1941 to September 1943 during World War II. The MAS used speedboats and human torpedoes to attack British Royal Navy ships, while frogmen took part in attacks against Gibraltar. MAS sank or damaged five warships and 20 merchant ships, a total of 202,000 tonnes of materiel. After Benito Mussolini's ouster in 1943 and the overthrowing of the National Fascist Party, MAS became an anti-partisan special forces unit under the Italian Social Republic, operating on land against the communist partisans. They were involved in several war crimes, including the sexual abuse and virtual enslavement of several Italian youths near Marzabotto in 1944.
