Debra Rodman

Debra Rodman (born 1972) was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from the 73rd district from 10 January 2018 to 10 January 2020, succeeding John O'Bannon and preceding Rodney Willett.

Biography[]

Debra Rodman was born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1972, and she was raised in Coral Gables. She became an anthropology and women's studies professor at Randolph-Macon College and became a migrant rights activist, making yearly trips to Guatemala to observe the effects of migration and serving as an expert witness for asylum seekers. In 2017, she defeated Republican delegate John O'Bannon and entered the House of Delegates, distinguishing herself as a progressive politician. In 2019, she ran for the State Senate, challenging Republican incumbent Siobhan Dunnavant for her seat in Henrico County. On 5 November 2019, she narrowly lost with 49.05% of the vote to Dunnavant's 50.76%.
