Dawn Schiller (1961-) was the girlfriend of adult film actor John C. Holmes from 1976 to 1981.
Biography[]
Dawn Schiller was just fifteen years old when her family moved into a Los Angeles apartment complex managed by 32-year-old porn star John C. Holmes, and Holmes groomed Dawn before beginning a sexual relationship with her. He manipulated her with drugs and alcohol, and he forced her to engage in prostitution with drug dealers and at brothels. Holmes would often beat her, doing so publicly on one occasion, and he neglected her. After the Wonderland murders of 1981, Schiller was told by Holmes' wife to stay away from Holmes for her own sake, and the two women became friends due to their shared history of neglect at Holmes' hands. After running away to Florida with Holmes, Schiller turned him in to the police, and he relocated to Oregon, where she attended Eastern Oregon University and earned her undergraduate degree in Communication and Gender Studies in 2012, graduating summa cum laude. She became a nationally sought-after speaker and a survivor-leader in the anti-trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual assault movements.
