David Paredes was a Cuban-American businessman who ran the Angel Dust Donuts restaurant in North Beach, Miami Beach, Florida during the 1970s and 1980s.
Biography[]
David Paredes was born in Cuba, and he migrated to the United States after the Cuban Revolution. He became an entrepreneur, opening Angel Dust Donuts in North Beach, Miami Beach. It was located next to the interstate highway, and, by the 1980s, it had become a run-down dump which was frequented by MDPD officers who demanded free coffee and donuts. In 1984, cartel boss Tony Montana came to the restaurant and offered to buy it from Paredes, who had him lead the cops on a one-way chase away from the restaurant before returning alone to buy the restaurant for $180,000. He transformed the business into a front for his cocaine business, with Paredes distributing the drugs on the streets.
