David Muzza (15 April 1921-6 June 1944) was a US Army Private who served in the US 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Squad during World War II.
Biography[]
Muzza born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1942, Muzza and his cousin Mark joined the United States Army Air Forces. At the camp, he became friends with Dale McCleary and Jack Courtland. There he, McCreary and Courtland were assigned to the 3rd Squad and Mark to the 4 Squad.
At the Normandy landings, David was to land last. However, the plane carrying the 3rd Platoon was strafed by German anti-aircraft guns, and Muzza was killed by a shell fragment that hit him in the chest. According to Hartsock, McCreary noticed David dead when several people had already parachuted.
Mark was killed on June 10 at the Battle of Purple Hearts Lane.
