David Jolly

David Jolly (born 31 October 1972) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-FL 13) from 11 March 2014 to 3 January 2017 (succeeding Bill Young and preceding Charlie Crist).

Biography[]

David Jolly was born in Dunedin, Florida in 1972, and he worked as a lawyer and lobbyist before serving in the US House of Representatives from 2014 to 2017. While he was a Republican, he later came to support the Obamacare safety net, opposed oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, and supported same-sex marriage. In 2016, he was defeated for re-election by fellow Republican Charlie Crist, and he became a prominent Republican critic of Donald Trump, became an independent in September 2018, and voted for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum a month later. Jolly became a member of the centrist Serve America Movement in 2020, becoming its chairman on 25 March 2021.
