David Heaton

David Heaton (10 March 1823-25 June 1870) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-NC 2) from 15 June 1868 to 25 June 1870, preceding Joseph Dixon.

Biography[]

David Heaton was born in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio in 1823, and he became a lawyer. He was elected to the State Senate in 1855, and he moved to St. Anthony Falls, Minnesota and served in the State Senate from 1858 to 1863; he later worked as a Treasury agent in North Carolina during the American Civil War. He decided to stay in North Carolina during Reconstruction, and he served in the US House of Representatives from 1868 until his death in 1870.
