David Brooks (1756-30 August 1838) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-NY 5) from 4 March 1797 to 4 March 1799, interrupting Theodorus Bailey's terms.

Biography[]

David Brooks was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1756, and he served in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, being captured at Fort Washington in 1776 and imprisoned until 1780. He became a lawyer in New York City and served in the State Assembly from 1787 to 1788 and from 1794 to 1796, a Dutchess County judge from 1795 to 1807, and a member of the US House of Representatives from 1797 to 1799. He died in 1838.
