Dave Lorimar Portis (born 1972) was a US Army Captain during the Afghanistan War.
Biography[]
Dave Lorimar Portis was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1972, and he enlisted in the US Army out of high school in 1990. Portis fought in the Gulf War in 1991 and went on to serve with the US forces stationed in Saudi Arabia. In 2001, he took part in the invasion of Afghanistan, and he rose in the ranks during the war against the Taliban insurgency there. In 2007, Portis commanded the US forces engaged in Operation Bargain in Kandahar, in which the US forces successfully cleared the city's marketplace of Taliban resistance.
