Dave Durden

Dave Durden (1923-7 June 1944) was a US Army Private who served in US 101st Airborne Division the during World War II.

Biography[]

During Operation Overlord, he fell out of the plane but missed his target. Instead, he ended up in a bocage and was trapped with Private Lucas Paulsen in a house full of German soldiers. They remained there indefinitely until Captain Brandon Ramsey and Lieutenant Mike Powell of the 2nd Ranger Battalion left the house and freed them.

Unfortunately, not long after, Paulsen was shot by a sniper mid-sentence, and the house began to swarm with Germans. Durden helped Ramsey and Powell defend the house and joined them as they left, assisting them in destroying two 88mm guns along with Private Jack Cobb, who was later found in another cottage. He and Cobb were killed while destroying the 88mm guns.
