Date Nakakatsu (1855-1927) was a Japanese settler in the colony of Otorishima during the late 19th century. He worked as a fisherman before travelling to Wake Island to follow the fish migrations, and, in 1889, he was granted US citizenship when the island was acquired by the USA. He became a member of the Socialist Party of America.
