Danny Burke (died 27 February 1968) was an American criminal and the son of Irish mobster Thomas Burke. He was murdered by the Marcano crime family in 1968.
Biography[]
Danny Burke was the son of Thomas Burke, an Irish immigrant to New Orleans, Louisiana. Burke became a lieutenant in the Irish Mob under his father, and he was known as a "gearhead"; he loved cars. In 1968, he decided to join Giorgi Marcano's heist crew to rob a federal bank before the old currency could be destroyed, hoping that Don Sal Marcano would return Irish Channel to his father if the heist succeeded. He helped in drilling a hole into the vault to help the robbers Giorgi Marcano and Lincoln Clay escape, but his legs were injured by falling rubble. He was carried by Clay, who told the Mardi Gras crowds that he was simply drunk. When they returned to Sammy Robinson's bar to celebrate, Giorgi Marcano and Sal Marcano arrived and betrayed them, with Burke being shot in the head by Giorgi at the bar counter.
